Behind the choices

We make decisions all the time. We weighs all considerations on each side before we actually make a decision. However, not much thought is given to the actual elements that come into play in a decision making process. One of the considerations entertained by the mental faculty of a human, when faced with a problem, is not just the ability, in the present, to overcome the obstacle, but also the ability to correct the mistakes he might make, in trying to overcome the obstacle. Notice here that this aspect is entertained as a present and available resource while making a decision in the present, although it comes into play only in the future. On the face of it, a pretty strange situation. The possibility of the decision being made in the present, being wrong is entertained, and to top it off, this is an important factor in the very making of that decision itself. Looks like we can't help counting our chickens before they hatch.
